Post Using KollectiON together with Movie Collector
Hello guys,

I am new in here and also quite new in using Movie Collector so I need a little start-up help from some eperienced users. sign-Help

I am using the latest version of Movie Collector and realized that it does not download the IMDB rating score for my movies.
I was, on another forum, adviced to use KollectiON to get all info, including the rating, from the IMDB database.
So I have installed the software and opened my DVD database and opened one movie, ticked the box for IMDB rating and the software downloaded correctly.

My question is:
Do I need to type in all the movie names one by one in the search page or can I just tell the software to update my complete database with the IMDB rating and just hit GO ?

And then...how do I save the result ?
Is it automaticly saved when I leave the search page or how do I do this ?

Thanks a lot for great software and great help :-)

There are two ways to get the extra info: Import or Update.

The quickest way for either is to open your Movie Collector database with KollectiON and then...
For Import:
1. Choose File | Import Web Info Source... from the menu

For Update
1. Select the movie or movies you want to update in the main table.
2. Choose Edit | Update... from the menu

Both choices present you with a dialog box which will need setting up first time round. User familiar with MoC V5.6 and before will be familiar with most of the options, although there are some significant extra capabilities available behond what Movie Collector was able to offer and indeed what it can offer now in terms of source data control.

Please note that when in Update mode you have an extra column in the field selections table for the Settings Dialog. The extra column controls what data will be updated for you existing selected movies.

When you done searching and adding/updating movies, choose the Add/Update button and new/changed movies will appear in the main table. All you have to do now is do File | Save.

Now you can open you saved DB with Movie Collector.

Hint, have a play with a copy of your DB and if you have any more questions then post back here.

Hei,

Thanks,

Yes it works the way you're saying except when I choose all my movies (simple marking all movies using the SHIFT key and click to make all movies selected) they are moved over to the update page, I am running the update for all my movies, I have checked in the Info Setting what info I want to get transfered when I choose update, I again mark all my movies and click Update, get an acknowledge button and on yes the software works for some minutes but after that I dont see any change in the movie info when I get back to the main screen.
But if I do the same with only ONE movie at a time it works perfectly.
What am I doing wrong when i want to update all my movies ?

I have done some testing and it seems to me that if there is one or more movies in list in the search queue the new data is not transfered over to the main screen.
If all the movies are found, the new data on all of the movies on the search list is transfered.

Is this so ?
Bug ?

This has been fixed for the next release. happy-159
